What is a Tokyo Blowjob Bar?
A "Tokyo Blowjob Bar" refers to a specific type of adult entertainment establishment located in certain red-light districts of Tokyo. These venues offer oral services to customers by female staff. They are part of Japan's unique adult entertainment industry, which includes various types of establishments such as soaplands, outcall escorts, and hostess clubs.
Is a Tokyo Blowjob Bar the same as a Pink Salon? Are they different?
A Tokyo Blowjob Bar is a colloquial term that might refer to certain adult entertainment establishments in Tokyo. On the other hand, a Pink Salon, also known as a "pinsaro," is a specific type of establishment in Japan where customers receive oral services from female staff while seated in a booth or open seating area. While both might offer similar services, the term "Tokyo Blowjob Bar" is not a standard or official term, whereas "Pink Salon" is a more recognized and specific term in the context of Japan's adult entertainment industry. So, while they might be similar in nature, they are not necessarily the same thing.
That being said, there are no establishments in Tokyo that explicitly call themselves "Blowjob Bars." Generally, the term "Blowjob Bar" is understood to mean "Pink Salon" in this context. However, it's important to note that if you ask a Japanese person for recommendations on a "Pink Salon in Tokyo," they will understand. But if you inquire about a "Blowjob Bar in Tokyo," you might receive a puzzled response like, "What's a Blowjob Bar?" So, caution is advised when using these terms.
Are there blowjob bars outside of Japan?

News reported in Japan about Blowjob Bars(Pinksalons)
The industry's largest and most popular Pinksalons, "Sukkiri" in Shibuya, was busted. Why were even male customers arrested?
Tokyo's popular adult entertainment establishment "Sukkiri," considered the industry leader in the "pinsaro" sector with annual revenues amounting to several billion yen, has been raided by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. The crackdown has led to the arrest of not only the business owners, managers, and female staff but also male patrons.
Regulations on Pinsaro under the Entertainment Business Law:
Soaplands and fashion health establishments are categorized as "specially designated adult entertainment businesses" under the Entertainment Business Law, requiring them to report to the Public Safety Commission. Both types of establishments offer private rooms where intimate services are provided to customers. In contrast, most pinsaro establishments operate under the same license as hostess bars and host clubs, classified as "entertainment and dining businesses." This is because the areas where "specially designated adult entertainment businesses" can operate are limited, and the regulations are stricter.
Therefore, pinsaros, being "dining establishments," often have booth seats that are not fully enclosed, are not very high, and are visible from the aisle. Drinks are also served to customers. The premise is that any intimate services provided are an extension of a consensual relationship between the female staff and male patrons.
A Den of Public Indecency:
The pinsaro in question was operating under an "entertainment and dining business" license. However, in reality, female staff and male patrons were becoming fully undressed in the booths and engaging in intimate services. The nine booths had no doors, and the partitions between them were low, making the activities inside easily visible to others. The establishment employed around 70 female staff aged between 18 and 25. On November 5th, when the police raided, 15 were working. There was no nomination fee, and the charge was 7,000 yen for 30 minutes during the day. They also offered student discounts and cosplay events, attracting nearly 200 male patrons on busy days.
The owners were charged with violating the Entertainment Business Law on December 5th, but the primary charge is public indecency. As a result, on the day of the raid, not only the female staff providing the services but also the male patrons receiving them were arrested on the spot for public indecency.
Continued Crackdowns Expected:
Both the patrons and female staff have since been released pending further action. Prosecutors are likely to either drop the charges or impose a minor fine. However, if the police raid a pinsaro offering such services, there's a high chance that everyone present, including patrons, will be arrested. In 1997, a notorious pinsaro in Kanagawa and in 2016, a pinsaro chain in Osaka were both raided for public indecency. However, the pinsaro industry as a whole had been in a "gray zone," with the police largely turning a blind eye. Many establishments in the industry took voluntary measures, such as dimming the lights or prohibiting full nudity.
The tide turned with the May 2021 raid on "Magic Banana" in Ueno by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, part of a cleanup operation ahead of the Tokyo Olympics. This establishment also provided extreme services involving full nudity. Subsequently, popular pinsaros like "Akebono" in Sugamo in July, and "Red Diamond" in Kamata in July 2022 were raided for public indecency. The recent case against "Sukkiri" in Shibuya is part of this trend.
This signifies a strong stance by the police, moving pinsaros from the "gray zone" to a clear "black mark," with an intent to actively prosecute. Most of these raids stem from tips provided by industry insiders. The police are expected to continue cracking down on prominent "pinsaro" establishments in the future as opportunities arise.
